Quick Summary: While the 200 Series used a hydraulic KDSS, the 300 Series (especially the GR Sport) introduces Electronic-KDSS. It is faster, smarter, and offers even better wheel articulation.
The Technical Difference #
-
Old KDSS (200 Series): Used a single hydraulic circuit. If one side compressed, the other had to react. It was excellent but had a “delay.”
-
New E-KDSS (300 Series): Uses independent electronic actuators for the front and rear stabilizer bars. The car’s ECU can now “disconnect” the bars completely in milliseconds when it detects off-road terrain.
Why E-KDSS is Better for Kenya #
-
Better Articulation: It allows for a world-record 715mm of wheel travel on the GR Sport. This keeps your tires on the ground in the deepest ruts.
-
No “Lean”: Because it is electronically controlled, the 300 Series is much less likely to develop the famous “KDSS Lean” found in older models.
